This course has been designed to provide the participants a solid knowledge of the principles behind the generation of energy from wind by means of the wide spread Horizontal-Axis Wind Turbines (HAWTs). The course focuses on the numerical modelling of Floating Offshore HAWTs (FOHAWTs). Along the course the aero-hydro-servo-elastic analyses of several wind turbines will support the explanations.
The openFAST code will be employed in the numerical analysis and it is a main objective of the course that the assistant improve their skills using this opensource software. Additionally a set of pre- and post-processors will be presented to simplify the preparation of input files and transformation of results.
The course will take place between 26th - 28th of may 2025, at the facilities of the University of Vigo in Ourense, Spain. The training will be delivered by Josean Galván, a professional with a decade of experience in the wind energy sector.
This activity is funded by the High-filelity modelling of floating wind turbine (HIWINTUR) project (Ref: CNS2022-136073).
